Word came from Denmark that a menace was on his way to the shire and a special officer was en route to intercept. Agent Beowulf had pursued Grendle for over a year, and has only recently come the closest to capturing the beast.  

I took Beowulf to HQ’s breakfast bar and asked, “Danish?”

To hence he replied, “Why, yes. I am.”

I could only respond with a shallow sigh and, “Well…. Should we get started with the dragnet?”

Epilogue:
Four days of setting traps, stake-outs, and sending candygrams all payed off. Grendel was caught starting a fight in the mead hall and in no time the night-stalker was disarmed. Denmark and the shire are both safe as he is now locked up in the Castle Prison along with Jack deLance and “Madam” Sally Decker.
